How A Guy Knows You Like Him More Than a Friend

Remember when letting a guy know you liked him was as simple as knocking into him for no reason or pummeling him with spit balls? Ah, the good old days. Now things are a little more complicated, what with the intricate politics of middle school and high school and all. You may have to re-evaluate your tactics so that they’re a little more subtle, but not so subtle that your target guy won’t know that you’ve got him in your sites.

Eye Contact

Do you get so nervous around him that you stare at the floor or over his shoulder instead of looking him in the eye? Nothing lets someone know that you’re sincerely interested in what they’re saying than by maintaining eye contact while they’re speaking. As simple as it sounds, eye contact and great listening skills are so rare that your guy will definitely take notice and wonder – Dude. Do you think she likes me?

Make a Mixed CD

A mixed CD is a great way to communicate so much about yourself – the kind of music you like, certain feelings you may feel, your sense of humor. They don’t all have to be mushy, I’ll-love-you-forever ballads. Keep it light and the music upbeat. If you know what kind of music he likes, pick out songs that you like in that genre. Decorate the little insert and slide it in his locker or just hand it to him. Hey, it’s no big deal, right? You make mixed CDs for all your friends. So he can take it as a sign that you like him if he likes you too and if not, you can easily play it as a friend thing.

Ask Him To Go Hang Out

Asking him to go hang out with you and a group is a good way to let him know you like him – and also to make sure for yourself that he’s someone you might be into dating. If he is, the two of you can have a sort of pre-date date. If he’s not as interesting as you thought or he’s not interested in you back, you can focus your attention on one of your friends instead – and maybe meet someone else while you’re at it.

Don’ts

Let’s be honest. Guys are easily confused, especially when it comes to us and figuring out what we’re thinking. They’re not so good at reading between the lines. So if you want him to know that you’re interested, there a few things you definitely shouldn’t do:

• Don’t be mean. He won’t get that you’re over compensating for your true feelings or that you’re joking. Be nice to him if you like him.
• Don’t be too nice. This may sound contradictory, but respect as well as communication that you’re crushing is the ultimate goal here. You’re not going to get that by kissing butt.
• Don’t send a messenger. It’s a little childish to have your friends do your dirty work for you, and this could backfire in so many ways. Don’t trust a buddy on a fact finding mission when it comes to matters of the heart. That’s definitely something you need to do for yourself.
