How To Tell If He’s Cheating On You (Or Thinking About It)
Cheating in our culture is a sad fact of life. For whatever reason – the danger of getting caught, the desire to test out a new relationship before letting go of you, or simple lust – men traditionally have had a hard time staying faithful to one lady. 50% of men admit to having cheated on at least one girlfriend. Here’s how to find out if your guy has made your relationship into just another statistic.
- He seems like he’s faraway when he’s with you. True, he may be worried about college applications or a problem with his parents, but if he’s not confiding any of these things in you and his answers to your concern are vague, then he might be thinking about someone else.
- He’s hard to get a hold of. If you are calling and he’s not answering – or calling back – there might be a problem. And if his parents and friends don’t know where he is, or are evasive when you ask, either they’re covering for him or he doesn’t want them to know where he is, either. Unless it’s your birthday and he’s planning a surprise party, he might be hanging out with another girl.
- He dresses nicer. A new concern for his appearance like suddenly lifting weights or wearing cologne or caring more in general about how he looks might mean that he’s working to impress a new lady.
- He’s interested in something new. Granted, people are constantly growing and getting involved in new things but if you can’t trace where his new passion for Czechoslovakian polkas or re-runs of Scooby Doo is springing from, it might be because of someone he hasn’t introduced you to.
- He’s suddenly kind of mean sometimes. Breaking plans, forgetting dates that are important to you, and in general just being gruff with you can mean that he’s showing irritation about having to keep up with your stuff when he’s interested in someone else.
- He doesn’t invite you to his games or family events anymore. There may be somebody else at these events that he’d rather be hanging out with or he may be about to break up with you. Either way, it’s not a good sign.
- He won’t let you read text messages or check his email around you. Secrecy usually means secrets and if he’s keeping them from you, then that secret just might be another girl.
Ultimately any shift, sudden or gradual, if it doesn’t involve you or something big in his life that you know about, then it may be that another girl has caught more than just his eye. If you suspect, trust your intuition, but don’t say anything just yet. Be aware and do a little more research to make sure. You’ll be really embarrassed if it turns out that his favorite aunt has a terminal disease or that he’s been planning a secret, romantic Valentine’s Day event for you. In any case, trust is really important in a relationship and if you don’t feel that he’s the kind of guy you can trust, then you may be better off ending it whether he’s cheating or not.
