Essential Beauty Secrets You Can’t Live Without
Have you ever felt like every girl in the world was given some sort of beauty secret initiation tutorial at the age of 9 that you missed out on? Well, we’re here to help you fill in some of the gaps for you. Take a look at some beauty secrets that will help you get that look that you’re working for.
- Big eyes are the thing; they always have been. It’s not hard to make your eyes look wider and brighter. First, curl your eye lashes with an eye lash curler BEFORE you put any makeup on your eyes. Use a light pastel color right above your lashes, swipe a medium brown in the crease to give depth, and use a light beige or washed gold up to your eyebrow. Lightly! Two coats of mascara and you’re ready to go!
- Want to wear your favorite perfume but it always seems to wear off in a few hours? The solution is not to douse yourself. Instead spray the perfume in the air and sweep your jacket through the mist. Then spritz some over your hair and you’ll have enough scent to get you through the day.
- Make your lip color last longer by rubbing just a little concealer onto your lips before applying color. This is good for neutral or light colors. For darker, night time shades, outline your lips and color them in with a lip liner pencil and your lipstick will stick.
- If you want your skin to look flawless, you’re way too young to deal with foundation. It’s thick, it’s heavy, and it looks really bad. Instead, go for a tinted moisturizer to give the little bit of coverage and even skin tone you need.
- How do you keep your nail polish from chipping within the first day after painting them? Start with a base coat and finish with a top coat. Dry with cool air to keep the polish from getting dull and chipping.
- Getting a good shave can be difficult without the right tools. Get a good shaving gel (not foam), rinse your razor after each stroke, and use a four blade razor for only two weeks to get the smoothest, closest shave.
- The brushes you use for applying your makeup may seem like the most insignificant part of the process. Not true! Invest in good brushes and don’t keep them zipped up in a case. Let them air out so that they won’t collect bacteria – and give you breakouts. Wash them once a month with a mild liquid soap, shape the bristles if necessary, and lay them out to dry on a paper towel.
- It seems like only movie stars can get those deep red lips looking just right. If you’re going with a bold red look for prom, make sure you’re very precise from your choice of shade to its application. Pinky reds are for fair skinned girls, orangey reds are for brown skinned gals, bluey reds suit the olive skinned ladies, and brick reds are perfect for dark skinned girls. Use a liner and use a lip brush to put it on just right. Don’t forget to blot! For extra shine, use a clear lip gloss on top.
- What’s up with those big bags under your eyes every morning? They’re even there after you’ve gotten a good night’s sleep! For starters, stay away from dark eye colors (shadow or liner) and go for a dot of concealer, white eye shadow, or a brightening stick. You may find that a night eye cream containing vitamin K helps reduce those bags and matched with a good daytime eye cream, you won’t need to camouflage anything at all!
